I conducted qualitative interviews with three car owners. Below is the outcome in addition to the survey.

1. By creating a service that alerts you of ideal timings to leave, it can simplify work/life planning. One of the interviewees for instance, would much rather adjust his working hours and stay for an additional hour, had he known there would be a traffic jam by leaving earlier. This function could be powered by camera systems of other cars combined with general traffic updates.

2. “Escape routes” is another solution based on the interviews. Two of the four has two to three different routes to take in case of a traffic jam. If route #1 is jammed, they take #2 and so on. This solution can be supported by a function that updates you in real time of what route to take, without needing to re-route the GPS.

3. Another common stress factor among the people I interviewed and the survey was finding a parking spot. This could be solved by using the data from other radar and camera systems of Volvo cars driving in the area.
